Coffman Engineers is seeking an Alternative/Renewable Energy Project Engineer for our Burlington office. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, energetic team player with at least five years of experience in renewable or alternative energy (microgrids, CHP, energy storage, ev charging, biomass, solar, wind etc.). Experience should include involvement in project management, design, and engineering. Coffman's office offers a small firm work environment with large firm opportunities. You would report directly to the local office Department Manager, but you would also be reporting to and supporting the Corporate Energy and Sustainability Vice President.
Responsibilities
- Involvement in project management, design, and engineering for renewable energy projects.
- Provide peer review of designs.
- Develop proposals, execution plans, and technical engineering reports.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Read and prepare project drawings including plans, sections, and bills of materials.
- Travel to provide support at job sites and to other Coffman offices (less than 25% of time).
Requirements
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in WA in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Fire Protection, or Structural Discipline preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in energy industries (e.g., solar, power generation, battery, microgrid, wind, CHP, etc.).
- Project or Construction Management experience in the specified industries and sectors.
- Ability to provide peer review of designs.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Business development experience preferred.
- Experience with front end loading engineering process and programming.
- Experience with total installed cost development preferred.
