About the position

This position supports the Hepatology program and involves various responsibilities aimed at improving patient care and operational efficiency. The role includes managing the Tumor Board, launching new virtual inpatient consult sites, and leading initiatives to transform the hepatology department into a destination program. The successful candidate will be responsible for process improvement initiatives, liaising between physicians and staff, and building databases for research purposes. Additionally, the role involves developing patient education materials, analyzing revenue opportunities, and collaborating with primary care providers related to liver care. Project management support is also a key aspect of this position, ensuring alignment across teams and delivering quality customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Tumor Board Administrator - agenda, meeting prep, share tumor board recommendations with referring providers and assist in connecting patients to further care
  • Launching new virtual inpatient consult sites for IUH hospitals - communicating with hospital teams, developing standard work
  • Lead the transformation of the hepatology department into a destination program by realizing new initiatives to improve patient experience, increase clinic volumes, revamp referral pathways, develop better online presence, etc.
  • Responsible for collecting, analyzing and recommending process improvement initiatives for hepatology patient access and patient flow operations
  • Liaison between hepatology physicians, APPs, and staff on new ideas/initiatives for delivering care and improving operations
  • Build and maintain databases using RedCap software for research and trial purposes, so they can eventually become standard of care practices
  • Assist in the development of patient education and clinical handouts
  • Analyze potential opportunities for additional revenue streams and quality metrics through new billing codes, new documentation enhancements such as HCC coding, documentation to reflect comorbidities, and reflect true risk adjustment scores
  • Review/develop potential community outreach opportunities
  • Proforma development for new equipment such as Fibroscan machines
  • Collaborate with and be liaison for IUHMG primary care providers related to liver care (ie: MASLD drugs requiring Fibroscan readings; educating Primary Care on how to get patients to get a scan with us)
  • Develop annual report yearly containing accomplishments, goals, metrics results, volumes, etc.
  • Provides project management support to leaders and team members
  • Assists with and supports team planning, execution, monitoring progress, and delivering end results
  • Collaborates across teams to ensure alignment
  • Assesses situations, gathers appropriate information and input, and makes recommendations to leaders
  • Ensure quality customer service and professional representation of the team and the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent years of experience required
  • Clinical license and/or other certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
  • 0-3 years of experience is required
  • Experience with matrix organization and complex work environment a plus
  • Experience exhibiting professional judgment and diplomacy in handling unexpected problems and frequent interruptions is required
  • Requires basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
