About the position

AECOM/Tishman has an immediate opening for a seasoned Construction Project Accountant to support our ongoing construction projects from our Headquarters in Manhattan. This role requires advanced knowledge of project accounting, providing support for the most complex and/or large-scale projects. Under general direction, the Project Accountant will make recommendations for project improvement based on a review of financial results and knowledge of the projects. The position involves researching general ledger account reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and making A/R cash adjustments. The Project Accountant will also work closely with customers or clients to gather and provide necessary information, review contracts for additional service opportunities, and assist in converting project proposals into project budgets. Since 1898, AECOM Tishman has managed the construction of some of the world's most iconic buildings. The company employs a diversified preconstruction and construction management staff, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers, architects, technology specialists, scheduling and cost control personnel, and construction estimators and accountants. AECOM Tishman provides expert consultation and guidance in all phases of a building project, from master-planning and preconstruction options evaluation to design review, estimating, scheduling, procurement, construction, and occupancy. The staff manages all consultants and contractors on a project, representing client interests throughout the project cycle. AECOM Tishman has built more than 900 million square feet, including the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, One World Trade Center in New York.

Responsibilities

  • Support ongoing construction projects from headquarters in Manhattan.
  • Provide advanced project accounting support for complex and large-scale projects.
  • Make recommendations for project improvement based on financial results and project knowledge.
  • Research general ledger account reconciliations and prepare journal entries.
  • Make A/R cash adjustments as necessary.
  • Work with customers or clients to gather and provide information.
  • Review contracts for additional service opportunities.
  • Assist in converting project proposals into project budgets.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or a similar curriculum.
  • 6 years of experience in construction project accounting or equivalent experience/education.
  • Demonstrated success in the field of construction project accounting.
  • 6-8 years of experience as a construction Project Accountant.
  • Experience managing multiple large construction projects, preferably for a larger General Contractor.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with construction management accounting software.
  • Ability to work independently.
