About the position

The Programming Support Specialist at Tarrant County Elections Board plays a crucial role in assisting with the creation and verification of elections within the voter registration system, ballot programming software, and pollbook management system. This position is responsible for maintaining the chain of custody for election equipment and supplies, training temporary staff on procedures and voting equipment, and liaising with County IT for software-related issues. The role requires a blend of administrative skills and technical knowledge to ensure the smooth operation of election processes.

Responsibilities

• Assists with election creation and proofing, ballot proofing and verification in Voter Registration, Pollbook and Voting systems.
• Assists with all recounts mandated by the State and requested by local entities.
• Monitors equipment movements for each election and verifies proper chain of custody.
• Assists with and supervises temporary workers being trained on equipment and procedures each election.
• Responsible for updates to pollbooks and pollbook software including database downloads for each election.
• Creates custom reports post-election and for public information requests (PIR).
• Responsible for interaction with the County IT Department for projects and software issues.
• Performs all other work-related duties as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Four (4) full-time years of clerical or administrative experience.
• Experience in elections is preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic programming concepts is preferred.
• Proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, and similar office suites software is required.
• Able to organize and prioritize work with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must be able to clearly communicate goals and objectives.
