About the position

The Program Director for Diagnostic Medical Sonography is responsible for all aspects of the program, including the management, administration, continuous review and analysis, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the program. The Program Director is also responsible for areas related to teaching, advising students, program development and effectiveness, clinical site management, internship management, student progression, review and analysis of program data and outcomes, scheduling (student and faculty), student learning outcomes, and retention in accordance with the University’s policies and procedures. In support of the University’s mission, the Program Director for Diagnostic Medical Sonography works with the faculty and support staff to promote continuous improvement in the quality of instruction through ongoing professional development, coaching, and training. The Program Director must uphold and maintain compliance with the standard set by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) in the current Standards and Guidelines of an Accredited Education Program for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and the University’s Division of Health Sciences and Business Technology rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the program's structure and daily operations to ensure compliance with accreditation regulations by submitting accurate documentation on time.
  • Prepare required reports and maintain all necessary records, data, and fees as mandated by the college and accrediting bodies.
  • Didactic and clinical instruction. Develop, implement, and conduct assessments on program and course student learning outcomes.
  • Coordinate faculty activities and trainings, and scheduling within the program.
  • Assist with selection and the interview process of faculty within the program.
  • Develop and evaluate sites for clinical education, externship and preceptorship as applicable, ensuring the effectiveness of all clinical affiliates is maintained.
  • Conduct assessments of all class sessions of the program as required by policy.
  • Manage inventory of program equipment and supplies, prepare supply requests, coordinate textbook orders, and facilitate faculty, advisory committee, and curriculum review meetings.
  • Participates in admissions and employment services to ensure compliance with institutional and accreditation standards.
  • Provides academic advising and serves on various program, divisional, and university committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Sciences.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
  • Possess the appropriate credentials specific to the concentrations offered (AB and OB/Gyn).
  • Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, and in educational theories and techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree.
  • 5 years full-time, professional experience as credentialed Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Abdomen & OB/GYN.
  • Proficiency in programmatic accreditation, regulatory compliance, implementing institutional or program effectiveness plans, program development, and program accreditation.
  • Proficiency in teaching methodology, supervision, instruction, and guidance.
  • Current, valid RDMS credential in Abdomen and OB/GYN through ARDMS.
