About the position

Valley Health System is recruiting a Program Director for Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship and Director for VMG Palliative Care. The Valley Medical Group (VMG) seeks an experienced Palliative Care leader to serve as Director of Palliative Care. The Director of Palliative Care will be responsible for planning, development, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive palliative care services across the Valley continuum. The Director will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality, patient centered care ensuring that patients with serious illness receive comprehensive symptom management, psychosocial support and goal concordant care. This role involves collaboration with health care providers, patients and families to optimize the quality of life and align care with patients' goals and values. As Program Director of the Palliative Care fellowship, the Doctor will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and obtaining ACGME accreditation for a new Palliative Care Fellowship Program. This position is responsible for developing a curriculum that aligns with ACGME standards, overseeing the accreditation process, and ensuring the program provides fellows with a robust education in palliative care, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the field. The Program Director will work collaboratively with the DIO, GME director, faculty, staff, and external partners to maintain the program's excellence and contribute to the advancement of palliative care education and research. In addition to excellent clinical and leadership skills, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of academic excellence and be knowledgeable of ACGME policies and procedures. This role will serve in a collaborative team with VHS, VMG, and The Valley Hospital (TVH) leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate comprehensive palliative care services across the Valley continuum.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality, patient centered care.
  • Ensure that patients with serious illness receive comprehensive symptom management, psychosocial support and goal concordant care.
  • Collaborate with health care providers, patients and families to optimize the quality of life and align care with patients' goals and values.
  • Design, implement, and obtain ACGME accreditation for a new Palliative Care Fellowship Program.
  • Develop a curriculum that aligns with ACGME standards.
  • Oversee the accreditation process for the fellowship program.
  • Ensure the program provides fellows with a robust education in palliative care.
  • Work collaboratively with the DIO, GME director, faculty, staff, and external partners.

Requirements

  • A degree in Medicine or Osteopathy is required.
  • An unrestricted license to practice medicine in New Jersey is required.
  • Board Certification in Palliative Care and Hospice Medicine required.
  • Minimum 3 plus years of Graduate Medical Education experience required.
  • Maintains CME credit hours as required for Board Certification and/or hospital staff privileges.
  • Maintains up-to-date credentials, including CV, License, DEA, CDS, Board Certification, and documentation of Hospital admitting privileges.
