About the position

The Program Coordinator - SES position at the Florida Department of Military Affairs involves overseeing the operations of the Florida Youth Challenge Academy, ensuring compliance with program standards, and facilitating training and development for staff and cadets. The role requires strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to coordinate various activities and events to support the mission of the Academy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high level of interaction with Director, Deputy Director, staff and customers
  • Assume all duties and responsibilities of the Director/Deputy Director in their absence
  • Oversee organizational compliance
  • Support department heads to ensure realistic working conditions are achieved
  • Provide feedback to Deputy Director and Director on issues of concern
  • Assist the Deputy Director with operating rules and necessary updates
  • Ensure timely completion of program CORE classes
  • Promote the program through Service to the Community network
  • Ensure all Cadets receive mandatory CORE classes and Service to the Community hours
  • Coordinate with outside facilities for events and functions
  • Assist in implementing and updating program SOPs and policies
  • Oversee Staff Training Coordinator, Dining Facility Manager, Logistic Specialist, and Maintenance Departments
  • Work with Staff Training Coordinator to maintain an accurate calendar
  • Address concerns with Supply and Maintenance departments
  • Monitor program activities in relation to established goals
  • Oversee daily schedule and coordinate with the Education department
  • Plan and coordinate events for Cadets
  • Oversee Family Day and assist in planning major academy events
  • Maintain positive communication with Service to Community POCs
  • Work all major events and adjust schedule as needed
  • Coordinate and provide oversight of required training to program standards
  • Ensure staff and Cadre are current on all required trainings
  • Coordinate meetings to review program SOPs
  • Maintain accountability of Operating Procedures
  • Coordinate information for regular program auditing
  • Present CORE classes to staff and Cadets
  • Develop and maintain daily training schedules for CORE and educational classes
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and orientations that benefit the program
  • Attend high profile events as directed
  • Use word processing tools and database software to produce reports

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field AND Two (2) years of full-time experience in a related field
  • An Associate's Degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field AND Four (4) years of full-time experience in a related field
  • A High School Diploma AND Six (6) years of full-time experience in a related field
  • Must have and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License
  • Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within six months of employment
