About the position

The New York State Department of Transportation is seeking a Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation) for the NY HELPS Region 5 Construction. This position involves functioning as the Engineer-in-Charge on one or more Department Construction contracts, ensuring that work performed by contractors meets contract specifications and is conducted safely and in accordance with the contract documents. Responsibilities include managing in-house or consultant inspection staff assigned to the contract, initiating design changes, preparing change orders, completing daily work reports and project diaries, and preparing final documents and Record Plans.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration.
• A qualifying bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related fields, or one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience.
• One year of full-time engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways/roadways, railroads, bridges, airports, waterways, building structures, or traffic management and safety systems.
