This position is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting customer product via tractor trailer and contributing to the long-term success of the organization. Requirements

  • Ability to maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Solid knowledge of all safety and regulatory requirements of operating a Class 8, commercial vehicle.
  • Solid knowledge of DOT regulations and the ability to abide by such regulations 100% of the time.
  • Ability to understand and follow Allen Distribution policies and procedures 100% of the time.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with Shippers and Consignees.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to climb in and out of truck cabs and trailers.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions from dispatch.
  • Ability to work and understand electronic communication including but not limited to in cab communication and e-logs.
  • Understand regional geography, reading maps, following directions and making effective and efficient travel route decisions.

  • Communicate effectively with customers as required.
  • Able to resolve issues promptly and/or request assistance from Dispatch Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently transport customer product via tractor trailer.
  • Contribute to the long-term success of the organization.
  • Perform pre or post trip inspections and communicate findings for effective resolution.
  • Ensure assigned loads are picked up and delivered as scheduled.
  • Communicate immediately to Dispatch if scheduled delivery time is at risk.
  • Communicate any service non-conformance to Dispatch.
  • Communicate with Dispatch when loads are complete and ready for next assignment.
  • Communicate with Dispatch prior to end of day if anything else is required.
  • Stay on schedule throughout the day, taking required breaks but no excessive breaks or time from scheduled travel.
  • Communicate recommendations for improvements in all areas of responsibility.
  • Secure cargo appropriately to protect from damage and theft.
  • Drive a Class A tractor trailer on commercial routes in Pennsylvania, New York, Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and all other states within our operating area.
  • Communicate effectively with Shippers and Consignees.
  • Report all issues to your manager/supervisor.
  • Maintain an appropriate appearance and dress in accordance with established dress code guidelines.
