About the position

The Professional Coder position at AMN Healthcare is essential for maintaining accurate coding for various medical specialties due to unexpected resignations. The role requires a skilled coder who can work independently and effectively communicate with healthcare professionals. The position is expected to last for three months with the possibility of extensions, and it involves a typical work week of 40 hours during daytime hours.

Responsibilities

• Accurately code medical records for various specialties including Hospitalist, Critical Care, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Vascular.
• Utilize coding systems such as Varadigm and Sunrise, with training provided if necessary.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and regulations.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in coding.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Professional Coder.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required.
• Proficient in Excel and highly computer savvy.
• Experience in multispecialty coding including Hospitalist, Critical Care, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Vascular.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Epic coding system is a plus.
• Strong self-starter with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills.
