About The Position

The role of the Production Technician is to maintain the encapsulation machinery as well as other production-related equipment to a level that maximizes efficiency. The Production Technician accomplishes this by assembling and disassembling the critical machinery equipment, cleaning machinery, repairing parts, performing preventative maintenance, servicing and troubleshooting machinery that is not running properly. The Production Technician carries out the duties while taking into consideration the company’s commitment to our seven Core Values such as Sustainability (people, the planet, and profit) in the planning and implementation of all actions related to the area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Must be mechanically inclined and have an aptitude towards working on equipment/machinery
  • General understanding of, and experience working with, mechanical systems
  • Ability to operate or to learn the proper operation of production equipment
  • Proficient in data entry and use of computer applications such as the Microsoft Suite of programs
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to work collaboratively with other team members
  • Positive attitude
  • Capable of lifting up to 20kg
  • Attention to detail, executing each duty with accuracy and precision
  • Able to prioritize work load and manage time according to production demands
  • Analytical with strong problem solving abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing processes would be considered an asset
  • Previous production and GMP experience an asset

Responsibilities

  • Maintain encapsulation machinery and other production-related equipment in a safe and efficient manner to support continuous production operations
  • Assemble and disassemble critical production machinery and equipment, including conveyors, lobe pumps, pump and die equipment, and similar mechanical systems
  • Safely use hoists and approved lifting devices to install, remove, and position pumps and other mechanical components
  • Perform routine inspections of encapsulation and production lines to ensure equipment is operating properly and efficiently
  • Coordinate and perform routine maintenance activities such as cleaning machinery, oil changes, lubrication, and replacement of parts
  • Perform emergency and unscheduled repairs in a time-sensitive manner
  • Perform line changeovers, including equipment tear-downs, reassembly, alignment, and preparation for production startup
  • Work closely with Supervisors and Operators during equipment setups, startups, and continual operation of production lines
  • Rebuild machinery components and complete machinery repairs using a variety of hand tools and approved procedures
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues to resolve equipment functionality concerns within assigned production equipment
  • Assist with the maintenance of spare parts inventory related to production equipment and components
  • Follow equipment manuals, technical documentation, and standard procedures when assembling, servicing, and reinstalling production equipment
  • Clean and sanitize equipment on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis in accordance with established schedules, safety policies, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Assist other production areas as required to support operational needs
  • Maintain a clean work area at all times and follow all work procedures, SOPs, safety policies, and company training requirements
  • Support the development and improvement of Production Technician-related work procedures and standard operating procedures when required
  • Report all quality issues to department leadership
  • Other duties as assigned.
