About the position
The Production Supervisor position is responsible for providing supervision to the shop floor personnel to meet business objectives. The role promotes and implements quality, productivity, and ABS initiatives. The supervisor will oversee an effective team, including planning and holding meetings, preparing and conducting performance appraisals, managing staffing levels, and assisting with career development. The position also involves approving time and attendance, prioritizing work assignments, and providing feedback to employees. The supervisor will direct training and orientation of employees, review production and operating reports, and work with engineering to improve operational effectiveness. Additionally, the supervisor will ensure compliance with EHS rules and company policies, respond to emergencies, and support employees with certified operator requirements.
Responsibilities
- Supervises an effective team, including planning and holding meetings.
- Prepares and conducts performance appraisals as appropriate.
- Manages staffing levels, including vacations, overtime, and leaves of absence.
- Assists with career development by motivating, coaching, and training employees.
- Approves time and attendance and labor transactions.
- Prioritizes and makes work assignments.
- Provides effective feedback to employees, both positive and negative.
- Maintains appropriate documentation for all disciplinary actions taken.
- Directs training and orientation of employees to ensure EHS rules are known and understood.
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operations, manufacturing, and maintenance problems.
- Works with engineering to improve overall operational effectiveness.
- Implements continuous improvement activities and set-up reduction.
- Ensures compliance with ABS principles including housekeeping, cleanliness, and safety compliance.
- Interacts with employees and other departments to manage the flow of product through the operation.
- Responds to emergencies and assists in troubleshooting production problems.
- Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
- Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures to improve operations.
- Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems.
- Supports and assists employees with certified operator requirements.
- Records manufacturing/cell board data either manually or by computer.
- Identifies cross-training needs and supports employee development.
- Ensures work instructions/quality procedures are available and being used.
- Reviews department inventory position including raw materials.
- Achieves EHS metrics as outlined annually.
- Actively participates, promotes, and complies with all EHS programs and policies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in the aerospace industry is preferred.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of expectancy with peers and subordinates.
- Ability to communicate effectively with support areas.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Understanding of certified operator program.
- Knowledge and familiarity with computer applications.
