About The Position

Hexcel is seeking a Production Supervisor for its Kent, WA, USA location. This role involves coordinating, scheduling, and managing materials, personnel, and equipment to optimize production. The supervisor will organize, coordinate, and lead the activities of production shift personnel, assigning responsibilities and developing schedules for the safe and efficient manufacture of high-quality products at minimum cost. The position also involves monitoring work area production schedules and employee productivity, educating, coaching, and motivating team members, and removing barriers to ensure success. Additionally, the supervisor will manage non-manufacturing personnel during off-shift coverage, such as lab personnel and maintenance staff. The summary pay range for this position is $77,968 - $117,324 annually.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of production leadership experience and/or three years of military leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to mediate conflict, perform thorough investigations, and set and communicate goals and expectations to large production teams in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with multiple variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong problem solving, facilitation, presentation, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Regular attendance on company premises is required.
  • Eligible candidates must be a: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, person admitted in refugee status, or person granted asylum.

  • Lean Manufacturing and other Continuous Improvement techniques experience.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, educate, coach, and provide developmental opportunities to team members.
  • Remove barriers to assure individual and group success and completion of all goals in the following areas: Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Productivity and Cost Control, and Continuous Improvement (5S, LEAN, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Support the Safety Management System, including initiatives like being a job observer, direct involvement in safety meetings, safety walk-through audits, safety training for direct reports, communicating safety information, and leading accident investigations.
  • Act proactively in resolving and correcting safety issues throughout the plant and follow all safety guidelines and requirements.
  • Direct involvement in quality meetings, pre-shift meetings, quality walk-through audits, quality training for direct reports, communicating quality information, and investigations.
  • Act proactively in resolving and correcting quality issues throughout the plant and follow all quality guidelines and requirements.
  • Communicate daily with other supervisors on personnel issues, equipment status, and manufacturing progress in meeting schedule.
  • Ensure thorough pass-downs with all stakeholders.
  • Monitor area production schedule and productivity.
  • Maintain an effective level of communication with plant management and other departments in support of the Company’s safety, quality goals, and production.
  • Provide leadership through active participation in employee development and enhancement of a positive work environment.
  • Establish an atmosphere of teamwork to assure the success of the team and the business.
  • Establish and maintain a professional and consistent work environment.
  • Assess new hires during their probationary period to ensure adequate training and development of necessary skills and experience.
  • Issue recommendations and corrective actions, and address complaints/resolve problems for all direct reports.
