Production Supervisor

Rhyno Equity GroupBrampton, ON
CA$105,000 - CA$115,000Onsite

About The Position

This Production Supervisor role owns the shop floor, it’s a hands-on leadership role responsible for getting the operation running every day: on time, to spec, and safely. You are managing a team of 10+ welders, fitters, and labourers directly, with no foreman layer underneath. You are the last line of quality before work goes out the door. All Railings builds custom miscellaneous metals and railing systems. The work is precise, the drawings are detailed, and the margin for error is small. We are looking for someone who has built things with their own hands, can read a fabrication drawing and catch what is wrong before it becomes a problem, and knows how to run a safe, organized, productive shop without being told to.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of experience in metal fabrication, miscellaneous metals, structural steel, or a directly related trade environment
  • Hands-on trade background: you have built things, not just managed people who build things. You can read a fabrication drawing and know immediately whether something is right
  • Strong working knowledge of welding processes, CWB and AWS standards, and fabrication tolerances
  • Proven supervisory or leadership experience managing a skilled trades team
  • Track record of owning safety on a shop floor: not compliant, proactive
  • Able to work independently and make decisions without being managed: Louis should not need to follow up
  • Proven capability of managing multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining accuracy, organization, and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Ability to assess competing priorities, manage time effectively, and focus on high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to obtain additional training as required

Nice To Haves

  • Background in miscellaneous metals, railing, or custom steel fabrication specifically
  • Experience at a competitor or similar shop in the GTA
  • Familiarity with CWB-certified shop environments and quality documentation requirements
  • Comfort with production scheduling tools and basic reporting

Responsibilities

  • Manage shop materials ensuring best supplier pricing, inventory control, coordinate with subcontractors and third party vendors
  • Review fabrication drawings, material lists, and job priorities to plan and sequence work across the floor.
  • Coordinate with project managers and estimators to clarify specs and resolve production issues before they cause delays.
  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and reallocate labour/resources as project priorities dictate.
  • Inspect fabricated components for accuracy, finish, and conformance to drawings and tolerances.
  • Ensure adherence to welding procedures, CWB and AWS standards, and customer specifications.
  • Resolve non-conformances immediately and implement corrective actions that stick.
  • Own health and safety on the floor without prompting.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and meetings.
  • Ensure full compliance with OHSA and applicable regulations.
  • Lead, assign, and develop a team of 10+ welders, fitters, and labourers.
  • Run morning Toolbox Talks with team and assign daily priorities.
  • Determine and hold employees accountable to production targets, quality expectations, and shop discipline.
  • Conduct performance conversations directly and support skill development and cross-training.
  • Oversee the maintenance and proper use of shop equipment including welders, plasma tables, press brakes, and cranes.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance, coordinate repairs, and flag capital needs to leadership.
  • Track and report on key production metrics: output, scrap, rework, downtime, and on-time delivery.
  • Provide regular updates to the GM and participate in production planning meetings.
  • Overall shop documentation management (i.e. status tracking, safety training, shipping bill creation).
