About the position

The primary responsibility of the Production Planner is managing inventory levels to ensure adequate supply while minimizing excess inventory and costs. This role involves monitoring inventory levels daily, analyzing data to forecast trends and demand for specific products and materials, and developing and maintaining inventory control procedures. The Production Planner will work collaboratively with purchasing, production, and logistics departments to optimize inventory levels and minimize stockouts and overstocks. Additionally, the position requires maintaining accurate inventory records, identifying discrepancies, and taking corrective action where necessary. The Production Planner will also identify slow-moving inventory and develop strategies to reduce or liquidate those items, working with sales and marketing departments to promote them. Reporting inventory key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management and evaluating new products for inclusion in the company's inventory are also key responsibilities. The role includes implementing and maintaining inventory management software and systems to streamline processes and improve accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain inventory control procedures, including reconciling inventory counts, cycle counting, and physical inventories.
  • Work collaboratively with purchasing, production, and logistics departments to optimize inventory levels and minimize stockouts and overstocks.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in the company's systems and identify discrepancies and errors, taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Identify slow-moving inventory and develop strategies to reduce or liquidate those items.
  • Develop and report inventory key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to maintain optimal inventory levels and ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Evaluate new products and materials and determine their viability for inclusion in the company's inventory.
  • Implement and maintain inventory management software and systems to streamline processes and improve accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Associates / 2 year Technical School
  • 2-4 years applicable job experience

Nice-to-haves

  • SAP Experience
  • Bilingual experience preferred (English/Spanish)
