About the position

As a Production Operator at Okamoto Sandusky Manufacturing, you will be responsible for setting up and operating production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Your primary goal will be to ensure that the work product meets specifications and customer requirements. You will work closely with other team members and the team leader to coordinate operations and activities within the work area or department effectively and efficiently. In this role, you will review work orders, specifications, blueprints, mill schedules, or instructions to determine the necessary raw materials, feed stock, procedures, sequence of operations, machine settings, specifications, and quality requirements. You will identify setup specifications and procedures, as well as the needed items such as plates, rollers, feed guides, and gauges. Additionally, you will examine, inspect, and measure raw materials or feed stock to ensure they conform to requirements. You will perform the setup of equipment, including control settings, feeds, speeds, temperature, and tolerances, ensuring all systems are set correctly before beginning startup cycles. Operating equipment efficiently will be crucial, as you will monitor the production process to ensure the product remains within specification. Inspecting the work product and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions will be part of your daily responsibilities. Recording and adjusting operational data such as temperatures, feeds, speeds, pressures, and processing times will be necessary to maintain quality. You will also adjust machine controls and components to regulate various parameters to avoid quality issues or defects. Performing minor machine maintenance, such as lubrication and cleaning, will be part of your duties, along with notifying the team leader or maintenance when major service is required. You may also operate material handling equipment as necessary.

  • Inspect work product and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Record and adjust operational data such as temperatures and processing times.
  • Adjust machine controls to regulate various parameters to avoid quality issues.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance and notify maintenance for major repairs.
  • Operate material handling equipment as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • 2 years of manufacturing experience (preferred).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with night shift, day shift, or overnight shift availability.
