About The Position

NBCU Local is seeking a Production Operations Specialist to join the Technology team in Houston, TX, supporting KTMD. This role is primarily responsible for preparing and executing the operation of the automated production control system (APC) for live and taped television broadcasts. The ideal candidate loves a challenge, enjoys working with people, and wants to make a positive impact while being a part of a high performing team working at the leading edge of media technology.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in video production or local news, preferably TD/Directing experience with Ross Overdrive Production Automation or a similar system
  • Experience with production switcher operations, manual and automated video and graphics play out, and audio board operations
  • Must have strong oral/written communication skills, solid interpersonal skills, be able to work in a team, and be able to work accurately under pressure and deadlines
  • Must demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure and think critically
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with computer applications working and monitoring multiple screens and software applications simultaneously in a broadcast environment
  • Video editing skills
  • Must be willing to work in Houston, TX
  • Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours, and on weekends with short notice
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program

Responsibilities

  • Operate control room systems and automation, using templates to streamline technical directing, audio mixing, robotics, live/remote segment cut-ins, video playback, graphics insertion, and switching
  • Edit stories and clips to ensure high-quality, engaging content that aligns with production standards
  • Give direction and timing to talent and other technicians during broadcasts and studio productions
  • Develop and maintain system documentation for operational and troubleshooting purposes
  • Performs other control room and studio related duties as assigned
