Responsibilities

  • Manage the execution and oversight of events at all SCPA and SCPA-leased venues, including coordinating setup of sound systems, stage lighting, and artist services.
  • Develop safety and maintenance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local and national laws and best practices.
  • Assist the Director of Production in coordinating and executing in-house produced events.
  • Create, track, manage, and oversee budgets for event project costs and non-salary overhead for the technical department.
  • Serve as primary communication liaison to the technical department for inter-departmental planning and program implementation.
  • Develop long-range plans for facility improvement and equipment replacement in consultation with the Director of Production.
  • Recruit and hire full-time and part-time staff and over-hire technicians to ensure high standards in technical skills and professional conduct.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field of study or 4 years of advanced job skills or training approved by the Division Director.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in stage management, lighting design, audio engineering, and production management with increasing responsibility.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret technical riders and drawings for live performing arts events.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations at a high-school algebra level and analyze statistical data.
  • High-level personnel management skills in a creative field with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to multi-task and work calmly under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and theatrical electricity requirements.
  • Able to use and safely operate sound, lighting, video, and rigging equipment.

  • CPR/AED certification preferred.
  • First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Fork Lift Certification preferred.
  • ETCP Certified Rigger-Theater Certification preferred.
