About the position

The position involves checking the reactor system for proper operation in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and/or operation manuals. Under general supervision, the individual will measure and mix ingredients according to the Batch Production Record (BPR) and dispense raw materials from the Pharmastore for synthesis. The role requires monitoring chemical reactions during processing and responding appropriately to ensure proper processing, as directed by senior Production Chemist personnel. The individual will perform intermediate chemical processing steps, prepare solutions for purification, and purify crude peptides using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Additionally, the role includes conducting the lyophilization process and performing drying processes according to established guidelines. The individual will report any equipment issues to supervision and perform in-process checks using analytical HPLC, maintaining high safety and cleanliness standards throughout the process. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Responsibilities

  • Checks reactor system for proper operation in accordance with SOP and/or operation manual.
  • Measures and mixes ingredients according to the BPR (Batch Production Record).
  • Dispenses raw materials from Pharmastore for Synthesis.
  • Monitors chemical reactions and responds with appropriate actions to ensure proper processing.
  • Performs intermediate chemical processing steps using established procedures.
  • Prepares solutions for purification and samples.
  • Purifies crude peptide using HPLC's under general supervision.
  • Conducts lyophilization process according to established guidelines.
  • Performs drying processes in accordance with established processes and procedures.
  • Reports any problems or issues regarding equipment used in processing.
  • Performs in-process checking of the fractions using analytical HPLC and reports results.
  • Maintains high safety, housekeeping, and cleanliness standards.
  • Performs any and all additional duties as required for this position.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry or equivalent
  • 1+ years experience in a cGMP pharmaceutical/biotechnology laboratory
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite of applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to rapidly change focus during times of shifting or changing priorities
  • Impeccable technical writing skills with extreme attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
