About the position

The Product Stewardship and Sustainability Program Manager at Abbott Laboratories is responsible for ensuring compliance with product stewardship regulations worldwide, including REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, and EPR. This role involves implementing a comprehensive product stewardship program, assessing chemical registration requirements, evaluating product compliance, and coordinating data collection from suppliers. The manager will also contribute to strategic planning and program effectiveness evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Implement an effective, written product stewardship program to ensure compliance with Abbott procedures and regulations.
  • Assess chemical registration requirements for chemicals/preparations prior to manufacture, importation, or sourcing within a region.
  • Evaluate parts, products, and packaging for applicable chemical use requirements prior to sale and periodically thereafter.
  • Collect and maintain part, packaging, and product information to support regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate data collection from suppliers and third-party manufacturers (TPMs), including product composition, Conflict Minerals forms, and compliance declarations.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning process for product stewardship, including annual evaluations of program effectiveness and compliance through self-assessments, risk assessments, and updates on product and regulatory changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in product support in areas such as R&D, operations, technical support, quality, or regulatory.
  • Experience in product stewardship (e.g., REACH, RoHS) or regulation interpretation and compliance.
  • Proven ability to work within a broader enterprise/cross-division business model, collaborating with various teams.
  • Strong data analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and planning skills.
  • Excellent judgment and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in product stewardship (e.g., REACH, RoHS).
  • Familiarity with product bills of materials.
  • Proficiency in using Excel for data analysis.
