About The Position

This is a full-time, hourly position. The role involves loading and unloading wet and dry railcars/tanker trucks for distribution to customers. Typical duties include operating pumps and valves to unload railcars, performing and documenting quality control checks, and conducting sanitation duties of the terminal. The operator will also complete and maintain QC logs, operate pumps and valves for sanitizing tanker trailers and making liquid Sucrose and Liquid Blends, and perform daily equipment inspections to detect mechanical defects. Additionally, the role requires operating computer systems for data input and handling/connecting hoses. Essential job functions also include coupling and uncoupling trailers, operating landing gear and fifth wheel pins, and safely ascending/descending various structures like tractor cabs, trailers, railcars, storage tanks, catwalks, ladders, and step stools. Some terminals may require a Public Weighmaster Certificate upon completion of the probationary period, and ADM requires a successful background check.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

  • Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Some terminals require/provide a Public Weighmaster Certificate upon completion of probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Operate pumps and valves to unload dry and liquid railcars.
  • Perform and document QC checks to insure all products meet our quality specifications.
  • Perform and document sanitation duties of the terminal as assigned by management.
  • Complete and maintain QC logs and forms as specified by S.O.P’s.
  • Operate pumps and valves to sanitize tanker trailers.
  • Operate pumps and valves to make liquid Sucrose and Liquid Blends.
  • Perform daily equipment inspection with the ability to detect mechanical defects and notify Supervisor.
  • Operate computer systems to input data and/or other business functions.
  • Handle and connect hoses.
  • Couple and uncouple trailers, cranking of landing legs, pulling 5th wheel pins.
  • Ascending and descending tractor cabs, trailers, railcars, storage tanks, catwalks, ladders and step stools.
