About The Position

Supports media research engineers by operating and maintaining media prototype equipment and laboratory equipment, performing polymer and fiber characterization, and assisting with trials and other support. Builds, repairs, and prepares articles for testing and associated auxiliary equipment. Installs test articles into test structures. Performs tests in accordance with established test methods and work instructions. This role is 100% on-site. Sponsorship for employment visa status will NOT be provided now or in the future.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • at least 5 years of hands on testing/mechanical maintainence experience.
  • Ability to work cross functionally with multiple departments
  • Ability to lift equipment/materials weighting 20 lbs or more.

Responsibilities

  • Performs testing in accordance with established test procedures and methodology.
  • Consistently provides accurate and reliable test results.
  • Has an in-depth understanding of the function on of the test equipment used to perform test and the contribution of the test equipment to the validity of the test results.
  • Configures and operates data acquisition systems; analyzes and reviews data for appropriateness.
  • Has an in-depth understanding of the functioning of the product under test to assess the contribution of the product to the validity of the test results.
  • Performs test stand installation, troubleshooting and setups and the upkeep and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Provides support/recommendations to engineering for equipment supplier evaluation and qualification, equipment and facility updates and instrument specification.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on Melt Blown/Spun pilot equipment (training included, including bowl maintenance, line maintenance, and production teardowns (rotary joints, etc.)
  • Assist in trials as needed in support of media research engineering objectives
  • Perform polymer characterization, using lab equipment including capillary rheometer; conduct rheology QC checks on incoming polymer
  • Perform fiber diameter analysis on SEM and micro basis weight measurements
  • Perform routine and some complex maintenance, troubleshooting, minor repairs, and assembly of mechanical/electrical testing systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems on laboratory equipment
  • Provide mechanical support assistance for larger team equipment (polymer dryers, compounding, calendering) and pilot line upgrades
  • Support additional activities (cutting/bending tubing, cutting of various items, etc.)
  • Provide overlap coverage for Multipass testing during high test demand periods
  • Support media marketing activities and potential EFBT production; may be cross-trained in physicals for MSNF support
  • Lead MSNF Lab 5S and safety, including completion of Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Health Identification Risk Assessments (HIRA), and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures
  • Provide timely response to walk-in requests from internal customers (engineers and R&D personnel)
  • Provide support and recommendations to engineering for equipment supplier evaluation and qualification, equipment and facility updates, and instrument specification
  • Decommission test stands as needed
  • Additional growth opportunities help to configure and operate data acquisition systems with a fundamental understanding of DAQ principles and testing equipment control logic (analog and digital signals)
  • Performs other duties as required
