About the position

The Produce Clerk at New Seasons Market is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while managing various tasks related to the produce department. This role involves cleaning, trimming, packaging, and stocking produce, as well as engaging with customers to enhance their shopping experience. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. This position is part-time, with a focus on early morning shifts, and is eligible for benefits including a staff discount.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, trims, packages, processes, rotates, and stocks produce.
• Engages customers in a friendly manner and assists them in locating products.
• Prepares the Produce department for store opening and closing.
• Shares product knowledge and makes recommendations based on customer needs.
• Builds displays and arranges department products attractively.
• Maintains cleanliness, organization, and rotation of all areas, products, and supplies.
• Handles damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
• Receives and unloads merchandise, checking quality, count, and condition.
• Communicates any issues to management and merchandising team.
• Completes customer special orders thoroughly and provides follow-through as needed.

Requirements

• Valid Food Handler Certification.
• Previous customer service, food service, retail, or grocery experience preferred.
• Basic math and computation skills required.
• Ability to manage time effectively and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with high attention to detail, quality, and presentation.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous produce experience in a retail, farm, or distribution environment preferred.
• Skills to manage difficult customer interactions preferred.
