About the position

The Produce Clerk position at New Seasons Market involves working in the Produce department to clean, trim, package, process, rotate, and stock produce while providing exceptional customer service. This role is essential in maintaining a positive and collaborative team environment and requires adaptability to various shifts including opening, mid, and closing shifts. The clerk will engage with customers, assist them in product selection, and ensure the department is well-presented and organized.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, trims, packages, processes, rotates, and stocks produce.
• Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive team environment.
• Engages customers in a friendly manner and assists in locating products.
• Prepares the Produce department for store opening and closing.
• Shares product knowledge and makes recommendations based on customer needs.
• Builds displays and arranges department products attractively.
• Stocks, rotates, and faces products with attention to quality and expiration dates.
• Handles damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
• Receives and unloads merchandise, checking quality and condition.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of all areas, products, and supplies.

Requirements

• Valid Food Handler Certification.
• Previous customer service, food service, retail, or grocery experience preferred.
• Basic math and computation skills required.
• Ability to manage time effectively and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with high attention to detail, quality, and presentation.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous produce experience in a retail, farm, or distribution environment preferred.
• Skills to manage difficult customer interactions preferred.
