About The Position

The Process and Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and improving automated control systems and manufacturing processes. This position works cross-functionally to optimize production line efficiency, ensure product quality, and reduce operational costs through the application of process engineering principles and automation technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in manufacturing process engineering and controls/automation systems
  • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
  • Ability to be well organized and the ability to prioritize to make good decisions, and multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently and have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with other team members and facility leadership.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
  • Familiarity with automation platforms and software tools (Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, Ignition SCADA, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, Lean principles, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with robotics integration (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, UR).
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0, IIoT, and smart manufacturing technologies

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and implement process control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA) to automate and enhance manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze current manufacturing processes for improvement opportunities and implement changes to improve efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead or support capital projects involving automation upgrades, new equipment installation, or production line modifications.
  • Design and implement data acquisition systems and process monitoring tools to drive continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot control systems, instrumentation, and process-related issues in real-time manufacturing environments.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and production teams to ensure robust and reliable equipment performance.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including control system designs, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, OSHA, NFPA) and company safety policies in all engineering activities.
  • Train operators and maintenance staff on new automated systems and process changes.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for process deviations or equipment failures.
