Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any area, which includes or is supplemented by 24 credit hours in the behavioral or social sciences.
  • Applicants who are approaching their anticipated graduation date may apply. If selected, the applicant must complete their degree no later than their start date.
  • Applicants must submit a copy of their transcript. However, an official college or university transcript is required at interview.
  • Degrees conferred outside of the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service. (See www.naces.org/members.html )
  • US citizenship is not required.
  • Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
  • Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.
  • All persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.

Responsibilities

  • Perform case management, pre-disposition and intake functions
  • Interview clients/customer
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Screen cases for court
  • Prepare cases for hearing
  • Enter data into automated record-keeping systems
  • Gather relevant facts pertaining to a case
  • Conduct home/field visits and urine screens as ordered by the court
  • Advise judges on case issues
  • Arrange psychological testing of clients or customers
  • Participate in team/work unit meetings
  • Coordinate activities between or among agencies
  • Provide information to judges, attorneys, or community organizations
  • Conduct investigations and prepare reports
  • Provide access to social services to assist in rehabilitation of law offenders
  • Make recommendations for alternate dispute resolution, adjudication, rehabilitation planning and treatment of offenders, including conditional release, substance abuse treatment, and education and employment stipulations
  • Monitor and enforce conditions of probation and/or court orders
  • Manage case flow and review case statuses for appropriate calendar balance
  • Make recommendations to the court
  • Attend court hearings and assist in preparing orders, moderate as primary host in Zoom, Microsoft Teams and other virtual courtroom platforms and as co-host, when needed; and be assigned after hours juvenile duty
  • Prepare pre-sentence and pre-trial investigations reports
  • Supervise adults or juveniles placed on probation
  • Monitor and enforce child support orders
  • Perform other related duties
