About the position

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist (PT). PTAs implement selected components of patient/client interventions and obtain data related to that intervention; make modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient/client as directed by the Physical Therapist or to ensure patient/client safety and comfort. The PTA is expected to conduct themselves in an effective professional behavior manner. The attributes, characteristics or behaviors required for success in this job include: critical thinking, communication, problem solving, interpersonal skills, responsibility, professionalism, use of constructive feedback, effective use of time and resources, stress management, and commitment to learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist.
  • Implement selected components of patient/client interventions and obtain data related to that intervention.
  • Make modifications in selected interventions to progress the patient/client or ensure safety and comfort.
  • Educate and interact with Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant students, technicians, volunteers, patients/clients families, and caregivers.
  • Respond to patient/client and environmental emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) from an accredited program.
  • Active Florida State Physical Therapist Assistant licensure required.
  • No prior experience required.
