About The Position

The Principal will be responsible for overseeing instructional and managerial processes to ensure program outcomes are met and to implement corrective actions as needed. This role involves collaborating with campus-level committees, providing instructional resources, fostering collegiality among staff, and communicating effectively with all stakeholders. The Principal will also be responsible for developing and implementing campus improvement plans, managing staff, overseeing budgets, and ensuring a safe and positive school environment. This is a 220-day contract position with a salary range of $91,690, based on experience.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from a recognized, accredited college or university
  • Valid standard administrator certification
  • Demonstrated experience with instructional leadership and teacher appraisal
  • Minimum of four (4) years of successful administrative or supervisory experience in public schools
  • Exemplifies instructional leadership, personal scholarship, a collaborative leadership style, personal integrity, strong interpersonal skills, effective communication skills
  • A visionary leader in public schools to work collaboratively with diverse students, staff, families, and communities to prepare learners for the century.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor instructional and managerial processes to ensure program activities align with outcomes and take corrective actions.
  • Consult with the campus-level committee on planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of the campus education program.
  • Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff.
  • Foster collegiality and team-building among staff, encouraging involvement in decision-making.
  • Ensure two-way communication with the superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community.
  • Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students.
  • Recognize excellence and achievement.
  • Ensure effective and quick resolution of conflicts.
  • Build a common vision for school improvement with staff.
  • Direct planning activities and implement programs to achieve the school's mission.
  • Identify, analyze, and apply research findings to promote school improvement.
  • Develop and set annual campus performance objectives for Academic Excellence Indicators.
  • Develop, maintain, and use information systems to show campus progress on performance objectives.
  • Interview, select, and orient new staff.
  • Approve all personnel assigned to the campus.
  • Define expectations for staff performance regarding instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication.
  • Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.
  • Assign and promote campus personnel.
  • Make recommendations to the superintendent on employee termination, suspension, or nonrenewal.
  • Work with campus-level planning and decision-making committees to plan professional development activities.
  • Confer with subordinates regarding their professional growth and assist in developing improvement goals.
  • Comply with district policies and state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Develop campus budgets based on documented needs, estimated enrollment, personnel, and fiscal requirements.
  • Keep programs within budget limits, maintain fiscal control, and accurately report fiscal information.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents, including attendance reports for textbook requisitions.
  • Manage the use of school facilities and supervise maintenance to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe campus.
  • Develop a student discipline management system with faculty and students to promote positive behavior and enhance school climate.
  • Ensure uniform observance of school rules and appropriate, equitable student discipline.
  • Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
  • Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignments.
  • Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.
  • Serve as a role model for all campus staff.
  • Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit support.
  • Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet them.
  • Use appropriate techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff assigned to the campus, including associate/assistant principal(s), teachers, counselors, librarians, aides, clerical staff, food service, and custodians.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Occasional district-wide and state-wide travel.
  • Frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
  • Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance as an essential job function.
