About the position

The Principal / Sr. Principal Manufacturing & Process Modeling Systems Engineer role at Northrop Grumman involves developing robust simulation models to enhance manufacturing processes and support innovative supercomputing technologies. The position requires collaboration with technical stakeholders to evaluate and improve manufacturing and test capacity, ensuring efficient production systems and logistics in a 3D visualization environment. This role is critical in advancing the capabilities of the Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) team, contributing to the development of energy-efficient computing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Improve manufacturing processes and throughput through detailed modeling and evaluation of tools and equipment.
  • Develop, vet, and document robust simulation models to validate and optimize production systems.
  • Interface with manufacturing operators, test teams, and technical leads to gather data for model assessment.
  • Participate in the generation and review of manufacturing modeling artifacts.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team to advance model development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of relevant experience, Master's degree with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience in at least one major 3D Simulation tool (e.g., Plant Simulation, Process Simulate, NX Line Designer, Catia).
  • Demonstrated experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (SysML).
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to create flexible, robust models that adapt to evolving requirements.
  • Experience with microelectronics fabrication and testing processes.
  • Experience modeling or working in manufacturing plants.
  • Ability to interpret and apply requirements from SOW, IMS, PBS, and other contractual milestones.
  • Experience with major 3D Modeling tools and quick self-learning capabilities.
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian product suite in an agile environment.
  • Understanding of DoD systems engineering requirements.
