About the position

The position involves leading and directing project teams in the professional services sector, specifically focusing on manufacturing operations for a multimillion-dollar naval propulsion and power generation program. The role requires preparing project execution plans, coordinating activities between clients and company personnel, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. The individual will provide technical and analytical guidance to project teams and will be a key point of contact within manufacturing for the program.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct project teams in the professional services arena.
  • Prepare project execution plans and coordinate activities between client and company personnel.
  • Monitor project completion from initiation through delivery to meet revenue and cost projections.
  • Oversee performance of projects or engagements, utilizing management skills more than technical skills.
  • Provide technical and analytical guidance to project teams.
  • Work alongside the OPS Support Team to focus on Continuous Improvement and operational excellence.
  • Resolve manufacturing issues by collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate responses with functional organizations to keep projects on schedule.
  • Propose, plan/baseline, and execute to performance management baseline.
  • Perform risk and opportunity management functions for the manufacturing scope.
  • Perform Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and cost account management functions.
  • Resolve material, manpower, and machine issues to ensure successful manufacturing performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience; 3+ years with a Master's; 0 years with a PhD (additional 4+ years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in Program and/or Project Management.
  • Experience using ERP systems.
  • Ability to travel (generally less than 10%).
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working on government contracts.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management.
  • Experience with manufacturing production proposals.
  • Experience managing hardware production activity.
  • Experience with SAP in a low volume, high mix manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Earned Value Management.
  • PMP certification.
