About The Position

Under the direction of the Process Engineering Manager, the Principal Process Engineer supports the organization and Process Engineering Manager by actively engaging in high-level, high-priority projects, Advanced process development, troubleshooting, and implementation of new technologies. The role focuses on optimizing the injection molding process by leveraging the latest cutting-edge technologies the industry has to offer. The Principal Process Engineer will focus on spearheading top-level projects, priorities, and initiatives to achieve robust outcomes in a timely manner. The Principal Process Engineer will: Identify comprehensive solutions through root cause analysis determined through Lean and 6 sigma tools and methodology. Conduct robust scientific studies to quantify root causes, then implement or take appropriate corrective action to resolve the root cause. Share hypothesis and key findings with the Engineering Manager to develop and drive a comprehensive cost-justified action plan. Attend Monthly Technical and Global Operations meetings, providing observations, findings, and supporting materials. The Principal Process Engineer will assist in leading the technical operation through continuous improvement, awareness, and education. Leading technical operations as the model for disciplined problem solving and execution of scientific molding principles. Exhibit and uphold the highest level of professionalism, conduct, and communication across all levels of the organization. This will be achieved while maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.

Requirements

  • High-level comprehension of scientific injection molding principles and studies.
  • Ability to fully utilize and leverage RJG CoPilot system and Hub software.
  • Determine the best molding strategy for a given molding application, and implement DIII process.
  • Applied knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodology.
  • Knowledge and comprehension of all aspects of an injection molding operation.
  • Able to identify operational gaps and work collaboratively to resolve.
  • Ability to foster collaboration, teamwork, and effective communication.
  • Facilitate team building through active engagement, fostering cohesion and buy-in.
  • Degree in Engineering, Apprenticeship, or 10+ years demonstrated scientific molding experience, coupled with strong scientific molding education.
  • Strong Scientific molding background RJG MMI, MMII, Train the Trainer, AIM Institute.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis and rational, Minitab experience preferred.
  • Proficient Knowledge of RJG’s CoPilot system and graph interpretation.
  • Demonstrate strong communication/mentoring skills: classes, training, or relevant experience preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate soft skills to effectively engage with different personalities and learning styles across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability and willingness to attend and participate in relevant job training/education.
  • Ability to stay up to date with current and emerging technologies, and attend trade shows
  • Ability to work non‑standard hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE in designated areas.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and adequate insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the entire Organizational Engineering team on process-related issues, bring knowledge, and driving coconscious based on the scientific tenets of injection molding.
  • Train, mentor, and develop Process Engineers as time and opportunity permit to bolster technical knowledge and awareness of the Process Engineering group.
  • Recognize opportunities for improvement in systems or processes, work with the Senior Process Engineer and the Process Engineering Manager to bring awareness and education.
  • Act with urgency and integrity, demonstrating a strong work ethic and engagement.
  • Mentor, though sharing knowledge and experience, challenges the Engineering team to solve problems through PDCA methodology and troubleshooting guide utilization.
  • Collaborate with the Process Engineering Manager to facilitate learning goals and objectives that align with the developmental career path or technical operations.
  • Engage through situational awareness by identifying and acting upon opportunities for improvement by engaging the appropriate teams and technical resources.
  • Willing to help support and lead operations to meet customer demand and KPI’s
  • Document studies and process improvements through the use of appropriate methods such as the SIM workbook, Four-Factor DOE, Minitab, Statistical Analysis, etc.
  • Perform PFMEA’s or DFMEA’s as needed or requested
  • Develop standard work instructions and operating procedures for new equipment implemented
  • Effectively communicate observations and findings of process-related issues back to the Process Engineering Manager for documentation and record keeping.
  • Support continuous improvement activities through PDCA methodology and KAIZAN events.
  • Update and maintain accurate forms and documentation through the EQMS database.
  • Coordinate with Process Engineering Supervisor to meet the dynamic needs of production to ensure goals and KPI’s are being met.
  • Build strong working relationships with Manufacturing, Quality, Project Management, Maintenance, and Automation teams.
  • Mentor Engineers and convey scientific molding methodology through effective communication across supporting teams.
  • Assist the Process Engineering manager by leading and driving strategic plant goals through quantifiable actions.
  • Share key findings or lessons with technical and global operations, sharing best practices.
  • Facilitate cross-functional training opportunities while actively engaging and mentoring.
  • Lead and mentor through active engagement, training efforts, lean principles, and adherence to standard work procedures.
  • Participate in strategic planning activities for the Good Hope plant.
  • Research, trial, and implement new processes and technologies.
  • Maintain open communication with the Process Engineering Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Process Engineering Manager.
  • Ability to support production emergencies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
