About The Position

Parsons is seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to support its expanding portfolio of federal projects. This role is primarily focused on the design functions for refurbishment and renovation of small to large complex facilities, infrastructure, equipment, and systems. The engineer will collaborate with BIM specialists/designers, review drawings, and provide technical input on drawings and specifications. The Federal Engineered Systems Global Business Unit is a leader in delivering Engineering and Technology solutions to Federal DoD and Civilian clients, with a history dating back to 1944. The position is based in Parsons' new design center in Kingsport, Tennessee, with potential for occasional on-site construction support work across the US. A DOE or DOW security clearance may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or another related field.
  • At least 10+ years of related work experience.
  • Professional Engineer Registration in State of Tennessee or ability to obtain one.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations.
  • Ability to obtain a DOE or DOW security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.
  • Extract engineering information from CAD drawings.
  • Prepare engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
  • Complete a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.
  • Prepare detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
  • Prepare and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
  • Provide technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical-related design issues.
  • Mentor and train junior process engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
