About the position

The Principal Engineer, Software Engineering at Collins Aerospace is responsible for developing, coordinating, and conducting complex tests and debugging control and diagnostic systems. This role involves close collaboration with project team members to ensure smooth operations in software engineering activities, making recommendations for software production components, and implementing major components. The engineer will also design and implement build procedures to support hardware and software product development.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and conduct complex tests and debug control and diagnostic systems.
• Liaise closely with project team members in planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems.
• Make recommendations on changes in the selection and application of software production components.
• Implement major components and present design reviews.
• Coordinate with other organizations to improve and develop software engineering activities.
• Design and implement build procedures for hardware and software product development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field with 8 years of experience in the avionics industry, or a Master's degree with 5 years of experience.
• 5 years of experience with DO-178B/C development and certification processes.
• 5 years of experience with aircraft systems and avionics software.
• 5 years of experience working with and leading Agile methodologies.
• 4 years of experience in Earned Value Management (EVM), Control Account Manager (CAM), Change Management, and Risk Management.
• Demonstrable knowledge of project schedules, Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), and month-end reconciliation activities.
