About the position

The Principal of the Early Learning Department at Northwest Regional Education Service District (NWRESD) is responsible for directing and managing the instructional program, as well as supervising operations and personnel at the campus and program level. This role involves providing leadership, supervision, and evaluation of the instructional program, fostering a positive and inclusive learning climate, and ensuring the effective implementation of program services to students and families. The Principal plays a crucial role in improving student learning by coordinating Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education services and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise the delivery of NWRESD's Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education services.
  • Collaborate with staff, community members, families, and other department staff for effective service delivery.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings to improve service delivery.
  • Ensure program operation is consistent with the program model and compliant with laws and regulations.
  • Support staff in meeting the changing needs of students and programs, including goal setting and instructional strategies.
  • Consult with local districts regarding EI/ECSE needs and provide guidance when requested.
  • Serve as a liaison between the ESD and the Oregon Department of Education and other agencies.
  • Participate in the selection, assignment, professional development, and evaluation of assigned personnel.
  • Develop and monitor the program budget and expenditures.
  • Serve as an effective member of the ESD's Administrative Team.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and customers at all organizational levels.

Requirements

  • Valid Oregon Administrator's License
  • Valid Driver's License and vehicle insurance
  • Related experience as a teacher or administrator
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of special education legal requirements
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Ability to understand and work with state and federal budgetary resources
  • Strong decision-making abilities
  • Creative and collaborative problem-solving abilities.
