About the position
The Principal Business Architect for Supply Chain at Microsoft is responsible for designing and developing enterprise-level architecture that aligns with comprehensive business strategies focused on value delivery. This role involves evaluating organizational maturity across processes, people, and technology to identify capability gaps and drive transformation efforts. The position requires collaboration with functional leaders to ensure that business architecture supports strategic initiatives and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Develops an enterprise outline of core and supporting business processes, including holistic details across people, resources, technology, and data.
- Adapts and implements industry-standard Maturity Model assessments to evaluate organizational and functional operations, leading gap identification and opportunity evaluation.
- Defines Business Architecture efforts across the organization through a principles-based approach to guiding customer satisfaction and competitive marketplace positioning.
- Builds Capability Sets required to achieve the North Star Vision and sequences them for an Architecture Roadmap.
- Works with Capability PMs to ensure the Proposed Architecture is understood and executed successfully.
- Ensures all proposed and approved programs align with and contribute to the defined business architecture.
- Leads envision efforts for mid- and long-term strategies across business segments, providing clarity and organization for the future state.
- Engages strategically with functional leaders as a trusted advisor to transform and scale business operations.
- Collaborates with key stakeholder groups to articulate strategy and initiative deliverables to capabilities, process, BI, and development teams.
- Champions operational excellence by establishing Business Value Delivery metrics that are meaningful and action-oriented.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or any other business related field AND 6+ years experience in technical program/product management, system architecture, product roadmap, authoring tooling vision or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of customer-facing experience.
- 5+ years of experience working with business architecture.
- 5+ years of experience in future-state envisioning and business strategy.
Nice-to-haves
- Sound understanding of Data Center business, preferably in a Hyper-scaler environment.
- Experience/background in Source to Pay process - in the context of procuring Network Bandwidth products, Land and Energy.
- Experience in SAP Procure to Pay, Ariba and EPPM.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification from an internal entity or a globally recognized third-party.
- Experience in DMAIC and LEAN methodologies.
