About the position

Motional is looking for a Principal Autonomy Integration Engineer to guide autonomous system product development. This role will work directly with development teams, strategic functions, operations, and senior leadership to define our path forward and lead major company initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for functional areas of the autonomous system and the markets for launch.
• Lead executives and key partners through sophisticated decisions to drive progress toward strategic goals.
• Synthesize technical and analytical insights with product intuition to formulate compelling roadmap investments and adjust quickly to new information.
• Secure commitment and support for the roadmap through detailed and thoughtful communication with engineering teams, key partners, and executive leaders.
• Create and maintain the data infrastructure needed to make decisions and perform job functions across the organization.
• Deliver results through coordinated execution across AV engineering teams in an applied research setting with significant experimentation.
• Identify and lead improvements to the team's innovation and approach to scale the team and impact.

Requirements

• 6+ years of proven success as a technical contributor leading development in robotics or similar industries, with at least 2 years in the autonomous vehicle industry.
• Ability to generate crucial insights through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of modern software development and machine learning engineering practices.
• MS in electrical, computer, or robotics engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• Outstanding communication skills: verbal and written, with engineers, non-technical partners, and executives.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity, crafting simplicity and order.
• Creativity and curiosity, driven to find novel solutions and push forward an entire industry.

Nice-to-haves

• 10+ years of experience in robotics or similar industries.
• Experience with highly technical product management.
• Experience developing safety critical software.
