About the position

The Primary Care Physician at the Department of Veterans Affairs will provide comprehensive patient care and administrative duties in an outpatient setting at the Fredericksburg Health Care Center. The role involves managing patients with ongoing medical conditions and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care. This position is permanent, full-time, and offers a competitive salary along with various benefits, including participation in the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of services including assessment and treatment in their subspecialty.
  • Perform appropriate evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.
  • Participate effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to enhance coordination of comprehensive patient care.
  • Order diagnostic tests and make appropriate treatment decisions based on findings.
  • Support compliance with clinical reminders and performance measures.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty training program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
