About the position

The Prevention Specialist plays a vital role in the child welfare team, focusing on keeping children safe and supporting families. This position involves providing stabilization-focused case management services aimed at preventing youth from entering the care of the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) and reducing the risk of further involvement with DCFS. The role is integral to the agency's mission of advancing the well-being of children and families through collaborative and preventative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide stabilization-focused case management services to families.
• Collaborate with various programs to ensure child safety and family support.
• Implement strategies to prevent youth from entering DCFS care.
• Reduce the risk of further DCFS involvement for families.
• Attend in-person meetings and events as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or another human service field.
• Child Endangerment Risk Assessment Protocol (CERAP) certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle.
