About the position

We are looking for dedicated individual to join our Early Childhood Education team as Associate Teacher. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth and development of children while supporting our mission to provide high-quality education and care. This role is a floater position, requiring movement between different classrooms and age groups throughout the school day.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care and education for children ages 0-5, ensuring a positive and engaging learning experience.
  • Collaborate with the Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Assume the responsibilities of a Teacher in their absence, guiding and supporting instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for all children.
  • Assist in planning and executing educational activities that promote child development.
  • Participate in physical activities with children, including games, music, and outdoor play.
  • Assist with bus supervision, ensuring the safety and engagement of children during transportation.
  • Complete pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within the first 30 days of hire.
  • Complete 16 hours of training on preventative health practices and nutrition, as required by Health and Safety Code within the first 30 days of hire.

Requirements

  • Has semester units ECE/CD, with a grade C or better, or CDA Credential or CTC.
  • Has 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5 years of age.
  • Has an Associate Teacher Permit or higher.
  • Must have a valid CA driver's License and reliable insured vehicle available for business use.
  • Must provide DMV print out and proof on auto insurance.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire.
  • Must submit proof of current vaccination status for measles, pertussis, and influenza (or a current, signed influenza declination form) in compliance with SB 792.
  • Must comply with the CAPSLO COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, either being fully vaccinated or sign a COVID-19 vaccination declination form.
  • Must complete a health screening physical completed within 30 days prior to employment and a current TB skin test/Chest X-Ray.
  • Employment is contingent upon meeting all job requirements and background requirements: criminal history check (Inclusive of DOJ, FBI and Child Abuse), acknowledgement of child abuse reporting responsibility, criminal record statement (Form LIC508), etc.
  • Must meet the Head Start Performance Standards and State requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Have a child development associate (CDA) credential or the California equivalent of a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit at time of hire.
  • Be enrolled in a CDA credential program that will be completed within 2 years.
  • Have an associate or bachelor's degree (in any area) or be enrolled in a program leading to such a degree.
