About the position

The J Center for Early Learning is seeking part-time Preschool Assistant Teachers to support a Reggio-inspired preschool environment. The role involves fostering meaningful learning experiences for children aged 12 months to kindergarten through project-based methods and hands-on learning opportunities. The assistant teachers will work collaboratively with lead teachers to create engaging classroom environments that promote exploration, inquiry, and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Creating an effective environment for learning through daily provocations and invitations.
• Developing project work arising out of thoughtful reflection on student interests.
• Working with students in a democratic fashion, modeling good citizenship, critical and creative thinking, and responsibility.
• Providing opportunities for individual and small group investigation and skill-building.
• Demonstrating working knowledge of child development ages and stages relevant to students in the class.
• Communicating well with parents.

Requirements

• An AA or BA in early childhood or a related field is preferred.
• 2 years of teaching experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Valid Child Development Associate Certification (preferred).
• CPR Certification (preferred).
