About the position
The Civi Group is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to join their established construction team in Metro West, MA. This role focuses on managing preconstruction activities for medium to large-scale civil construction projects, particularly those involving U.S. federal agencies. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to significant projects, including renovations and recovery efforts, while ensuring high-quality deliverables and effective cost management.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive scope of work packages, including narratives, quantity take-offs, and checklists, to clearly define project requirements.
- Evaluate and compare subcontractor/vendor proposals, ensuring accuracy in scope, schedule, and cost, while identifying potential gaps.
- Review project solicitation documents to ensure completeness and raise pertinent questions when needed.
- Lead the solicitation process for subcontractor and vendor quotations, ensuring clear communication of bid packages and prompt responses to inquiries.
- Assist in preparing detailed price analysis reports, providing valuable insights for decision-making.
- Collaborate with the design team on RFP responses for design-build projects to align estimates with project goals and specifications.
- Support purchasing efforts by defining subcontractor/vendor agreement scopes and addressing any contractual concerns.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in construction estimating.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
- Experience with estimating software such as Sage Estimating (Timberline) and On-Screen Take-off is a plus.
- Strong understanding of construction documents, with the ability to develop detailed and accurate scopes of work.
- Demonstrated longevity of service, with at least 3 years at a single company.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with federal or large-scale infrastructure projects is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with sitework, concrete, steel, or building interiors is a plus but not required.
