About The Position

Tempo Flexible Packaging is seeking a Pre-Press Technician to join their team. This role involves separating and color correcting files to ensure the highest print quality according to Tempo standards. The technician will also be responsible for loading and examining customer-supplied electronic files, identifying any issues, and preparing them for output. Quality control of digital files and proofs is a key aspect of this position, as is communicating with various internal teams and managers to resolve file and printing issues and manage materials for production. The role also includes any other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the packaging prepress industry
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Experience with both PC (Windows) and Macintosh computer platforms and all relevant design software
  • Strong understanding of all printing processes (Flexo, Gravure & Litho printing)
  • Proficient in Esko Suite, Illustrator, Acrobat (full creative suite a plus)
  • Must be able to reliably commute to work – own transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Flexo plate making is highly preferred
  • Post-Secondary education or a certificate in a related field would be an asset
  • Experience with colour correction is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Separate and colour correct files to Tempo standards for optimal print quality.
  • Communicate with Print Technical Service Manager, Account Manager, and pre-production personnel.
  • Load customer-supplied electronic files for output and examine them for completion and potential problems.
  • Identify missing or problematic components to the CSR/Print Technical Services Manager.
  • Pre-flight and prepare customer-supplied print-ready files efficiently.
  • Perform quality control of digital files, output proofs for approval, and check final output documents.
  • Report any issues to the Customer Service and Purchasing Manager or Production Supervisor.
  • Communicate and work with the team to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, and resolve file and printing issues.
  • Assist in managing materials for production by recognizing material requirements.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Printing Operations and Slitting Manager and Pre-Press Supervisor.
