About the position
The Pre Op Center RN at Ochsner Health is responsible for leading patient care by utilizing the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Code for Nurses. This role involves delegating tasks, directing team members, and ensuring quality patient outcomes while being sensitive to cultural and ethnic diversity. The RN will also engage in activities that support the strategic goals of the unit and demonstrate accountability for their nursing practice.
Responsibilities
- Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
- Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family, and other groups or disciplines.
- Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources properly and serves as a leader on the interdisciplinary team.
- Uses data and information to evaluate and promote change for optimal outcomes.
- Enhances customer satisfaction and employee morale in the nursing profession.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication styles.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Registered nursing diploma required.
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Leadership skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Associate's degree in nursing preferred.
- Experience directly supervising or managing others preferred.
- Certification in clinical specialty area preferred.
