The Powerplant Planner is a subject matter expert in developing and managing the complex engine powerplant planning at Alaska Airlines (AS). As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions in forecasting models for delivery of engine maintenance services and provides recommendations to address business challenges or problems in area of expertise. This individual contributor guarantees the development of the comprehensive engine maintenance plan. The planner brings a deep understanding of engine systems, maintenance procedures, and FAA compliance, enabling the creation of technically sound, efficient, and executable maintenance strategies. Manage communications with both internal and external resources to ensure the safe and compliant delivery of engine maintenance services. Develops both tactical and strategic plans for scheduled engine removals, effective utilization of spare engines and Auxiliary Power Units (APUs). Manages the year-round execution of engine maintenance plans, continuously tracking performance metrics, and operational effectiveness, while supporting effective communication with technicians and engineers to ensure planned tasks align with real-world shop capabilities and maintenance best practices. Leveraging A&P certification, this role must interpret maintenance data, understand the root cause of performance deviations, and validate technical decisions with practical insight.
