About the position

The Power Delivery Project Manager at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is responsible for managing, directing, and coordinating all aspects of projects related to the construction and rebuilding of overhead transmission lines. This role involves overseeing project scope, schedule, cost, and risk management while maintaining professional relationships with subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders. The Project Manager will also engage in business development activities and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage overall project performance including quality, scope, schedule, cost, communication, resource issues, risks, and customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for managing customer, subcontractor, and joint venture partner expectations regarding project performance.
  • Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations.
  • Report project status and performance data to management, project sponsors, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Plan, monitor, and control the project throughout its lifecycle including bid, contract award, engineering/design, procurement, construction, and closeout.
  • Work closely with the project team to ensure deliverables and services meet client satisfaction.
  • Manage significant projects and mentor team members as needed.
  • Assist in marketing and business development activities.
  • Assist in engineering changes to project plans.
  • Set standards for project execution through checklists and flowcharts.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Transmission, Distribution, and/or Substation Projects.
  • Knowledge and application of PM processes.
  • Knowledge and application of Financial Management.
  • At least 2 years' experience as a Project Manager for Electric Power Delivery Projects.
  • Ability to lead small teams.
  • Basic understanding and application of contract commercial terms.
  • Experience/knowledge of construction operations, power transmission & distribution design, financial acumen, and team-based management.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Thorough understanding of utility industry practices/standards, operations, and contract management with emphasis on power projects.
  • Proficient understanding of CPM scheduling and associated software applications (Primavera and/or MS Project).
  • Proficient understanding of Project Controls.
  • BS degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or the ability to attain within 2 years of employment.
