About the position

The Poultry House Operator plays a crucial role in the agricultural and biotechnology industries by ensuring the health and safety of poultry in a facility that produces Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) eggs for vaccine development. This position involves maintaining biosecurity, monitoring flock health, and supporting operations in a dynamic environment that contributes to advancements in human and animal health.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain biosecurity by following strict regulations to protect poultry and product quality.
  • Collect, clean, and sanitize SPF eggs to ensure their quality and suitability for sale.
  • Regularly monitor the flock's health and well-being, reporting any issues to farm management.
  • Perform basic equipment upkeep to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist in training new team members to uphold high standards in poultry care and farm management.
  • Ensure the humane treatment of birds throughout their lifecycle.
  • Assist with bird sales and other farm-related tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 60 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in warm, humid environments with exposure to noise, chemicals, dust, and live animals.
  • Commitment to biosecurity, with no contact with live poultry or birds outside of work hours.
