About The Position

This position provides general labor in the selection, vaccination, blood pull movements of all the Cobb products housed at Cobb contract farms. Other duties may be assigned. The jobsite is a bio secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.
  • If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly be able to lift and/or move 30 pounds and may be required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds at times.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift (concrete floor); sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and work in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.
  • Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required.
  • Ear plugs will be used as required.
  • NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs selection, vaccination, blood pull, movement, clean out of all Cobb products/facilities.
  • Loads Cobb products into modules and on to the truck for transport to designated processing plant.
  • Cleans and disinfects Cobb poultry houses, vehicles, modules and equipment.
  • Participates in research trials weighing meat, handling knives and reading scales as needed, sprays insecticides as needed, collects samples of surface area with drag swabs or swabs birds for health inspection.
