About the position

KIPP Public School Northern California's KIPP Forward team is looking for a full-time Postsecondary and Career Success (PACS) Manager to work closely with the Associate Directors of Postsecondary and Career Success in implementing the strategy for the region's postsecondary persistence efforts such that actual completion rates exceed estimated college/postsecondary completion rates. This role will provide up to 3 Postsecondary Success Advisors with consistent management, support, and feedback, in addition to managing relationships with key external stakeholders to lead career integration experiences that will enable alumni persistence and completion. The PACS Manager will report to the Associate Directors of Postsecondary and Career Success and will work out of the KIPP Public Schools Northern California Regional Support Office in Oakland. This role requires the candidate to be on site at least two days a week. A two-year commitment is strongly preferred to work with the same direct reports and cohort of students for two years in a row.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coach up to 3 team members, ensuring all team members are achieving their goals at the highest levels
  • Develop and coach all direct reports to continue to develop in their roles by providing constructive and positive feedback
  • Complete all parts of RSO Performance Management cycle with direct reports in a timely, consistent, and intentional manner
  • Serve as a member of the Postsecondary and Career Success manager team, modeling stellar performance and healthy communication
  • Collaborate with the KIPP Forward Associate Directors and other Managers to ensure team alignment and accountability, provide team professional development, and implement regional initiatives, such as Strong Transition
  • Attend and participate in all national KIPP Forward trainings, KIPP Forward team meetings, and Regional Support Office team meetings
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 25-60 1st and 2nd year postsecondary students
  • Provide advising and coaching services focused on postsecondary program persistence, the transfer process, college completion, and career readiness based on alumni needs; connecting them to additional resources across the team when necessary
  • Track and analyze student data such as contact information, financial aid status, internship participation, etc. as required using the Alumni Services database
  • Support KIPP Forward data collection and entry
  • Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to proactively track and report on program outcomes, identify areas of success as needed to respond to those areas that need improvement
  • Manage and build on existing college and career partner relationships
  • Research, identify, source, network and cultivate relationships with new partners
  • Negotiate with partners to ensure delivery of high quality programming for our students and alumni
  • Consistently report on partners performance and engagement to AD of Postsecondary and Career Success and KIPP Forward Director
  • Participate actively in college and career partnership working groups
  • Create and execute programming focused on alumni persistence and completion, aligned to key team, regional, or network priorities
  • Specific projects to be determined based on the team and organizational needs at the time.

Requirements

  • Passion for KIPP's mission and values
  • 2+ years of full-time related experience
  • Track record of measurable, exemplary results, preferably in an institution of higher education, secondary school/school system or non-profit organization
  • Track record of success in managing and supervising adults
  • Experience managing projects and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Bachelor's Degree in education, counseling, youth development or have equivalent experience
  • Ability to speak Spanish or Vietnamese is desirable

  • College advising knowledge including: the community college transfer process, course registration at an institution of higher education, the financial aid application process (FAFSA/CADAA), retention programs at UC and CSU institutions, etc. and/or youth workforce or career counseling

  • Salary range between $82,000 and $100,000, with most candidates compensated at $87,000
