About the position
The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to focus on large-scale structure cosmology, specifically weak gravitational lensing measurements, as part of ongoing dark energy survey programs including the European Space Agency's Euclid mission and NASA's Nancy Grace Roman mission. The successful candidate will contribute to the group's current activities while also pursuing independent research, benefiting from JPL's unique collaborative environment and access to significant astronomical resources.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the JPL cosmology group's current activities related to dark energy investigations.
- Carry out independent research in weak gravitational lensing measurements.
- Collaborate with JPL advisors and colleagues to produce publications in the open scientific literature.
- Engage in cross-discipline teamwork with scientists and engineers at JPL and Caltech.
Requirements
- PhD in astronomy, physics, or a closely related field by the start of the position.
- Public record of relevant research in the open scientific literature.
- Strong background in survey cosmology, statistical methods, and machine learning.
- Experience in precision measurement applications relevant to survey cosmology.
