About the position

The Electrochemistry Research Laboratory of Dr. Mohammad Rafiee in the School of Science and Engineering (Division of Energy, Matter and Systems) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City is seeking two full-time postdoctoral researchers with a strong background in organic and organometallic chemistry, along with experience in electrochemistry and materials synthesis. One position will focus on Ni-catalyzed electrochemical coupling of aryl halides. The other will focus on the synthesis of functional carbon materials for electrocatalytic reactions.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting literature reviews
  • Performing laboratory experiments
  • Characterizing synthesized materials (organic compounds or solid-state materials)
  • Analyzing data
  • Drafting reports and manuscripts
  • Contributing to grant proposal writing

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or chemical engineering
  • Record of publications in the relevant fields

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in electrochemical characterization, materials synthesis and organic synthesis, and electrochemical devices (including potentiostat and electrolysis cells)
  • Familiar with SEM, TEM, XPS, XRD, NMR, FTIR, and other materials and organic compounds characterization techniques
  • Ability to meet project deadlines
  • Ability to design and conduct advanced experiments
